Web Marketing SEO Part 8
Links:
Make sure there are links within your own site. Link post to post or post to other page or article. Two internal links should be enough.
RSS Feeds:
We will be looking at more ways to use your RSS feed in your search engine optimization strategies, but for now I just want you to find it and make a note of it. You probably already know what the RSS Feed is for, and if you have set up a WordPress site, you will already have configured its settings, but if you are not sure what it is for, it is a way for people to receive notice of updates to your site by giving them a brief summary of your latest activity.
The RSS button is often located in the web browser’s title box, with the website name and will be there if you are using WordPress. The button looks like this:
If your site has been created on one of the website building sites, usually you will only have a feed on your blog page, and it will be either in the sidebar or at the bottom of the page.
If you click on this button, it will bring up a box which shows your ‘feed’ URL – make a copy of this complete URL as you will need it in following steps.
Submit Your Site to Yahoo & MSN:
This can be done easily at a site called Free Web Submission – www.freewebsubmission.com
Yahoo used to require your FEED – e.g. yoursitename.com/feed, but I recently used the service and found that they are now taking your SITE ADDRESS, as for Bing.
So, submit your SITE ADDRESS to Yahoo and MSN (Bing) – e.g. yoursitename.com
Scroll down to the list of search engines near the bottom of the page and submit your site to all of these EXCEPT Google, which you have already taken care of.
It can take time (weeks!) for Yahoo and Bing to index your site, so don’t worry about it if you search and don’t find your site for some time. It will happen!
More coming………
